Bruce A and B relicensing hearing

Located in Kincardine, Ontario, the Bruce A and B Nuclear Generating Stations consist of eight nuclear reactors designed to produce electrical power.

With the operating licences for these reactors set to expire on May 31, 2015, Bruce Power has applied to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) to renew them for a period of five years.

Hearing in the community

Part 2 of the public hearing will be held in Kincardine, Ontario, from April 13 to 16, 2015, at the Davidson Centre, 601 Durham Street.

The hearing agenda will be available shortly before the proceedings.

Hearing Part 1

Part 1 of the hearing was held in Ottawa on February 5, 2015.

Public participation

The Commission has received 140 written submissions from Aboriginal groups, organizations and members of the public.

These submissions will be made available to the public before the event.

Individuals or organizations that filed submissions are also each permitted to make a 10-minute oral presentation to highlight key points.

Participant Funding Program

Up to $75,000 was made available, through the CNSC's Participant Funding Program, to facilitate participation in the relicensing activities.

An independent committee reviewed the funding requests received. Eight organizations and individuals signed contribution agreements after this review.
