CNSC submits Fifth Canadian National Report for the Convention on Nuclear Safety to the IAEA
October 8, 2010
On September 1, 2010, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission submitted its Fifth Canadian National Report for the Convention on Nuclear Safety to the International Atomic Energy Agency.
This report demonstrates how Canada continues to meet its obligations under the terms of the Convention on Nuclear Safety, for the April 2007–March 2010 reporting period. During this reporting period, Canada effectively maintained—and in many cases enhanced—its measures to meet its obligations under the Convention. Enabled by a modern and robust legislative framework, these measures are implemented by a regulator and nuclear power plant licensees that focus on the health and safety of persons and the protection of the environment.
The report will be discussed amongst member countries during the Fifth National Report Review Meeting to be held at the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, Austria, in April 2011.
The report will be posted on nuclearsafety.gc.ca once translated. English copies are available upon request at info@cnsc-ccsn.gc.ca.
