Word Jumble 1 – Instructions and Teacher Resources

Word Jumble 1 is one of several games and puzzles in the CNSC's educational resources aimed at students aged 12–13. The aim of the game is to unscramble letters to form nuclear-related words.

This page provides instructions for both mouse and keyboard players, including tips for players using screen readers, as well as PDF game versions that can be printed and played in a classroom. The answers are under "Teacher resources".

Tip: The player can increase the size of the text by selecting Control + or decrease it by selecting Control −. The player may also exit at any time by selecting Close at the top of the screen.

Inspector Geiger, the cartoon character who guides students through the educational resources pages, appears at the top of the screen to give instructions. Below Inspector Geiger is a list of scrambled words.

The player unscrambles each word in one of two ways.

One way is to drag the letters to the right and left until they form the answer. When the answer is correct, a green checkmark appears.

The other way is to click the words "type the word" and then type the word in the space provided. The player selects Enter or clicks "Check word" to find out if the word is right.

The player continues to guess the remaining words in the same way.

If an answer is wrong, a red X is displayed, along with a message to try again.

When the player has figured out all the answers, Inspector Geiger appears, saying: "Congratulations!"

Below Inspector Geiger are the answers and an image of two thumbs up as a sign of victory. The time it took to complete the game also appears. And a message lets the player know that they are well on their way to becoming a junior nuclear safety representative. Each student can also type their name in the space provided and select Print or Enter to print the results to hand in to the teacher.
