The Molecule Quiz is one of several games and puzzles in the CNSC’s educational resources aimed at students aged 14–18. The aim of the game is to correctly answer questions about molecules.
In the interactive version of this game, questions appear on the screen one at a time, with illustrations of the molecules side by side below the question. A small image of two cartoon characters, a girl and a boy who help guide students through the educational resources pages, appears at the top of the screen to give instructions.
To answer the first question, the player clicks on an image. If the choice is correct, a green checkmark appears with the text “That’s right! Here’s the next one…”, and the next question appears. If the choice is wrong, a red X is displayed, along with the text “Whoops! That’s not it. Try again…”
When the player has figured out all the answers, a picture shows the boy and the girl saying: “Congratulations!”
The final image shows two thumbs up as a sign of victory to let the player know that they are well on the way to becoming a junior nuclear safety representative. The time it took, in minutes and seconds, to solve all the words also appears. Each student can type in their name and print the results to hand in to the teacher.
